October 30, 2022 By Sharon Machrone

Scholars and staff dressed in pink and donated $661 to the American Cancer Society on October 21st in observance of
National Breast Cancer Awareness Month. This annual event at Link is one of the ways that students are learning to “give
back” to their community, the country, the world.

Founders return to Link!

October 24, 2022 By Sharon Machrone

Sister Alice Uhl and Sister Eleanor Uhl are volunteering at Link - working with our Kindergarten and 1st grade scholars on a weekly basis. They have been reading books with students and talking about the books with them as well as helping with writing activities and practice work. They are members of the Sisters of St Dominic, Caldwell, the organization that founded Link in 1971. In the early 1980’s, Sister Alice had served as a principal at Project Link, the name of the school prior to changing to Link Community School and then Link Community Charter School. Both Sisters have remained involved in the school in various ways over the years. It is wonderful that the Sisters still feel a strong tie to the school and enjoy volunteering here. And Link loves having them involved with the school!

Hispanic Heritage Month at Link!

September 27, 2022 By Sharon Machrone

Link is celebrating National Hispanic Heritage this month. Each day during morning announcements, students are learning about famous Hispanic Americans and their contributions and achievements and well as a number of heritage related facts. Middle school students were treated to a demonstration and lesson in Latin Salsa Dancing by performers from the Newark School of the Arts. Kindergartens and first graders will learn about the heritages of several Latino staff members. Other related activities and discussions are happening in the classrooms.

Off to a great start!

September 16, 2022 By Sharon Machrone

Link opened its doors to students on Tuesday, September 6th for the new school year! They seemed eager and excited to meet their teachers and their fellow classmates. The first week of school was spent in reacclimating students to school - reviewing school culture and procedures. And settling in! Link is looking forward to a terrific year with our scholars! Here are some photos of Day 1 arrival and activities.
