ELA Teacher, grade 8
Before joining the Link team in 2011, Claire taught language arts and writing for the NJ SEEDS College Preparatory Program for three years. Simultaneously, she freelanced as a private tutor for a diverse array of clients, ranging from a retired Russian opera singer to the Wonder Girls, a pop group from South Korea.
During her years at Link, Claire has taught both 7th and 8th grade English, as well as various elective classes in film studies and cooking. She enjoys hosting book clubs with students during their elective time and participates in a grown-up book club when she’s not at Link. Among Claire’s favorite memories of her time at Link are camping trips with Project U.S.E. and twice chaperoning 10 students on a spring break trip to learn about marine biology, sustainability, and local culture at the Island School on Cape Eleuthera in the Bahamas.
Claire holds a B.A. in English and creative writing from Columbia University and an M.A. in teaching secondary English from Montclair State University. After years of living in Jersey City, she once again lives in her hometown of Teaneck, NJ, with her husband. In her spare time, Claire enjoys cooking, reading, and practicing yoga.
