Social Worker, Anti-Bullying Specialist
Yris Acevedo was born and raised in Orange, NJ. She attended Rutgers University-Newark and earned her undergraduate and graduate degree in Social Work. She has over 20 years of experience working with youth ages 10-21 and their families within a school and community setting. Before joining the Link community, she was a School Based Mental Health Counselor for 11 years at Teaneck High School. In addition to providing individual, group and family counseling, she also led the high school’s non-traditional Girl Scout Troop, which focused on community service, leadership, sisterhood, and girl empowerment. Yris is excited about joining Link and is looking forward to helping the students grow emotionally and empowering them to be their best selves.
