Susanne Boyle

Teacher, grade 5

Susanne is a teacher in Link’s fifth grade, after a year as paraprofessional in the same grade. She attended the College of the Holy Cross in Worcester, Massachusetts. Following graduation, she joined the Jesuit Volunteer Corps and served for a year as a Pre-K teacher in Providence, Rhode Island. She also became a Court Appointed Special Advocate for children in the R.I. Family Court system. After moving to Washington D.C., Susanne began teaching fifth grade in a Catholic school and volunteered as a tutor with the Higher Achievement Program (HAP) in the evenings and during the summer.

Following the birth of her first child, Susanne chose to focus on raising four children for the next twenty five years, actively involved with their schools, serving on boards and as project leader, class parent, and girl scout leader. She started a foundation to raise funds and awareness for Transplant research and became a living donor mentor and volunteer on the inpatient Transplant unit after serious medical issues that faced one of her children. For six years she served as chair of the Patient and Family Advisory Council of NYP/ Columbia Hospital.
