Vanessa Dixon

Vanessa Lenore Dixon has been an educator for 29 years – certified in New York and New Jersey as well as a curriculum developer, community organizer, performing artist, and published author.

She has taught elementary, middle, and high school students. She has also co-taught African American and Latino courses through Spelman College and Morehouse College, served as a grade-level dean and school leader, and helped young people earn millions of dollars in scholarships.

Vanessa holds a Master of Arts in Mental Health Counseling, a Master of Science in School Building Leadership, a Master of Education, and a Bachelor of Science in Health Policy and Administration. Her service has included organizing for health care and economic development, ministry with homeless women, foster care families , prison ministry, international and domestic mission work, youth arts.  Her distinctions include teaching and service awards, an Obie Award-winning Off-Broadway performance credit in Black Nativity, and recognition for educational and community impact.

More important than any accomplishment is Vanessa’s passion to teach children how to be the catalyst of change in their lives and communities around the world through writing.
