Link Community School abounded with spirit and excitement last week during our annual School Spirit Week! Linkers celebrated the school with a tremendous amount of joy and elation! Each day they dressed in a particular theme: Nerd Day, Crazy Socks Day, Mix/Match and Backwards Day, Career Day…and the best of all…Purple and Gold (school colors) Day!
There were daily co-ed basketball games between Academic Teams, ending with a hotly contested game on Friday between Team Staha (grade 7) and Team Umoja (grade 8). The victors, Team Staha, thanks to great offense by Brian Antoine ‘14, advanced to play the Link Faculty. The faculty team, including Greg Silver, Nick Dwyer, Colin Greene, Tony Hill, Leo Caraballo and Coach Mike Wilson ’94 managed the win.
During the week, Teams designed Team posters and created Team cheers that were presented to the entire student body on Friday. Also on Friday, there was a Pep Rally, with introductions of our girls’ and boys’ basketball teams, a performance by the Link Drum Line and the Link cheerleaders, a dance competition and finally, one big line dance with everyone…students, staff and some parents gleefully (and energetically) participating. What a wonderful week – students exhibiting pride and excitement about their school in a fun and spirited way!
