Derrick Canada, a former Harlem Globetrotter from East Orange, New Jersey, showcased his basketball 
tricks with the assistance of his son Jalen (’16) at a lively LCCS Morning Circle on May 12th. Mr. Canada shared his very own 5-word life motto of, “Respect, Take Responsibility, Never Settle” with our students. He expressed that this is a message that has carried him through his successful career and propelled him to continue sharing his gifts while inspiring youth from similar upbringings. Mr. Canada, who attended the United States Military Academy at West Point and Iona College, inspired our students to follow his motto through all facets of life especially with regard to their educational careers. Students enjoyed Mr. Canada’s comedic and motivating talk on athleticism and education.
