Mr. Dan De Nose, founder of Leaders of the 21st Century, joined Linkers for morning circle on Monday, July 18th. He kicked off his presentation with Summer Academy scholars joining him for a call and response, “How many of you want to be great? How many of you want to do good? How many of you want to stand up and do right by your neighborhood?” “I am great. I am good. I’m going to stand up for my neighborhood.” Dan shared his personal story of starting off as a troublesome kid from Newark who didn’t have the best grades to a teen who found his purpose thanks to educators, family members and mentors who believed him. Today, he holds two degrees, graduated in the top of his class from the Rutgers Newark – Graduate School of Public Affairs and Administration, is active in the community and founded a nonprofit organization to help develop future leaders in high school. Mr. DeNose told the students that each one of them is destined for greatness and has a unique story that has yet to be written. He charged each Link scholar to find their purpose and use their gifts and talents to change their locl community and this world.
