Mary Kate Burke was born and raised in New York City. She graduated from the Bronx High School of Science and has a B.A. from Hunter College in English Literature. During undergrad, Mary Kate studied at Queen Mary and Westfield College in London, and completed a one-year certificate in handbag design at the London College of Fashion. Mary Kate holds an M.S. in Childhood Education from the Bank Street College of Education where she did extensive research on the bilingual child.
Mary Kate is excited to join the Link community as a 5th grade teacher. Prior to working at Link, Mary Kate taught for seven years at independent and international schools in New York City and Singapore. When out of the classroom, she enjoys volunteering for Eagle Island, a residential all girls’ camp in the Northern Adirondacks that inspires girls and young women to be confident, collaborative, and courageous. In her spare time, she enjoys cooking, hiking and spending quality time with her three-year-old daughter, Maya.
