ELA Teacher, grade 8
Prior to joining the Link team, Maija spent 2 years as a pre-K instructor and ABA therapist for students with disabilities in Brooklyn. Before entering the education field, Maija had a career in hotel management but long suspected that teaching English was her calling. She has also worked as an assistant in classrooms and afterschool programs ranging from pre-K through university in both NYC and her home state, Massachusetts.
Maija earned her B.A. in English at the University of Massachusetts, Amherst in 2017, and her M.A. in English Language and Literature at New York University in 2019.
She loves to travel and has been fortunate enough to spend time studying and traveling in southern Africa and the Caribbean. Her literary interests include poetry, creative writing, and global literature related to climate change and sustainability. She is excited to work with Link scholars to hone their critical thinking and writing skills.
