Our 5th and 6th grade students enjoyed “No One East Alone Day,” a positive prevention initiative to encourage better peer relationships and prevent bullying before it starts. Prior to the event students made banners for the cafeteria expressing the theme for the day. As they arrived at the cafeteria, students were assigned seats for lunch with students from other teams. The idea was to have students sit at lunch with students they normally don’t socialize with, so they can get to know each other better. At the tables, students engaged in activities designed to facilitate conversation. Lunch was a special treat: store bought pizza and cupcakes! Students were enthusiastic and excited! And…no one sat alone!
