For the first time in its history, Link will open its doors to four grades – 5 through 8 – on Tuesday, September 8th. Following a two year plan, the school has added a 6th grade for the upcoming school year, after adding a 5th grade last year. This means that the school’s population has doubled in two years, with the school now serving 288 students, up from 130 in 2013-2014! At the same time, staff had increased significantly, not only in the classrooms but also support staff.
At the same time, the number of staff has increased significantly, not only teachers but also support staff. The 5th grade employs the co-teaching model, with two teachers in each classroom. Major subject area classes in grades 6,7 and 8 will have a teacher and a paraprofessional to ensure that all students are well supported for success. Additional hires were made to support students, particularly additional special education teachers and another social worker. This year’s opening marks another milestone in the life of Link!
