Attendance at Link Community School’s annual golf outing held at Metedeconk National Golf Club at the end on July was the largest – 136 golfers – in the eleven years the school has hosted the event. Hot but dry weather afforded the golfers a great day on the links. Added to the fun of the event were a “Hole in One” car and a “Beat the Pro” 50/50 at two holes on the course.
The proceeds from the event, which totaled over $200,000, will be used for scholarships for students in the 2012-13 academic year. Of the event, Ngozi Emenyeonu. Link’s director of Annual Fund, states, “The golf benefit committee did a wonderful job with the event this year. Their efforts – and the generosity of our sponsors and donors – have ensured that more underachieving, vulnerable students from high poverty areas and under-performing schools will have a chance for success at Link and beyond.”
