Students in the Link’s boatbuilding elective successfully launched their boat on the Passaic River in Newark in mid-May. They spent two academic quarters, under the guidance of instructors from Project U.S.E., planning, building, sanding and painting the boat in anticipation of the launch. Students learned about the physics of flotation, how to use power tools safely and how to finish the boat. The looks of amazement on the students faces as they realize that their boat did, in fact, float, was priceless! Thanks to Project U.S.E. for their instruction and supervision in boatbuilding.
