What is the school’s history?
Link was founded in 1969 as “Project Link,” a non-denominational school, by the Sisters of St. Dominic, Caldwell, The school’s name was changed to Link Community School in 1992. In July 2014, the NJ Department of Education approved Link’s conversion to a public charter school, and in February 2018, renewed the school’s charter for 5 more years and approved expansion of 8 seats per grade over the next four years.

The school currently serves grades 5 through 8.

Link’s charter provides for recruitment from Newark, East Orange, Orange and Irvington.

How many students are enrolled at Link?
296 students are currently enrolled.

There are 18-20 students in each classroom.

What is the teacher to student ratio?
It is 1:9.

What is the length of the school day?
The school day for the Upper House is 8 hours and for the Lower House, 8.25 hours.

What types are student support services are in place at Link?
Link has a Special Education team, two Social Workers, and a Nurse. There are after school tutoring and mentoring programs.
