COVID Quarantining Emails, 09.20.21

Email to 5th grade families:
Good afternoon parents/guardians of 5th grade students. This email is being sent in follow up to the email to the school community advising families that we were notified just before dismissal today that a member of our school community has tested positive for COVID-19 resulting in the entire 5th grade (students and staff) being notified about quarantine.

We want to provide more information for 5th grade families in relation to the quarantine period. All 5th grade students will be required to quarantine for 14 days pursuant to CDC guidelines, beginning tomorrow, Tuesday, September 21st. Students would be expected to return to school on Tuesday, October 5th. Today, we sent a chromebook home with each student so that instruction can continue tomorrow and throughout the quarantine period virtually. Link teachers have had solid experience with remote instruction and have built a strong instructional platform to support students virtually.

The decision to move to virtual instruction has not been taken lightly. We know the impact on families is significant but we also know the pandemic requires us to make this shift in the best interest of the health of our scholars and staff.

Students have received notification in their google classrooms and will begin tomorrow at 8:20 am with a virtual morning circle to review expectations and systems. Students who attended our Summer Academy are well versed in using the Google Classroom.

Please contact Ms. Hester at khester@linkschool.org if you have any questions about the instructional program. We will share more information as needed over the coming days. Join us on Thursday, at 6 pm, for our Zoom Back to School Night.

Email to whole school:
Good afternoon Link families. This email is being sent to inform our school community that just before dismissal today, we were notified that a member of our school community has tested positive for COVID-19 resulting in the entire 5th grade (students and staff) being notified about quarantine. All 5th grade students will be required to quarantine for 14 days pursuant to CDC guidelines for exposure. Families with 5th graders will receive a separate email with more information about the quarantine period.

All students not in the 5th grade do not need to do anything at this time and we look forward to seeing you tomorrow. Please contact the school nurse if any student or family member develops any symptoms or if you have questions about symptoms. You can reach Nurse Hannah at khannah@linkschool.org.

We know that these notifications can cause anxiety and worry. Please know that the ongoing nature of the pandemic will likely result in exposure throughout the school year. With each case, we will follow CDC and state guidelines and inform our school community accordingly. If you have questions about this notification, please contact Ms. Hester at khester@linkschool.org.
