Partnership Programs

Link Community Charter School students benefit from programming supported which enhance their classroom learning and personal development through a number of partners. This programming is offered by Link Education Partners through other organizations providing exposures beyond the classroom. Link is grateful to its partners for providing meaningful experiences for our students. Some of the partners are:

Charter School Athletic League
The league promotes and provides interscholastic athletic competitions among their member schools. Link has participated or is participating in their coed flag football, boys’ basketball, girls’ basketball, coed soccer, coed volleyball, and cheer-leading programs.

Girls' Career Academy
Volunteers with Link Education Partners provide weekly meeting with a group of 7th grade girls, brining in professional women of color to share their career journeys with the girls. The purpose is to expose the girls to a variety of professions and to role models.

The Island School
Ten students each year visit the Island School for a week long immersion to marine ecology, sustainability, and Bahamian culture. During their week, students swim, snorkel,  camp on the beach, go canoeing and/or boating and  explore the island of Eleuthera, The Bahamas, including caves banyan tree groves, and so much more.

Newark School of the Arts
Instructors from the NSOA teach a number of arts-related elective classes, including dance, drumming, manga art, fashion design, DJ-ing, and more.

Newark Yoga Movement
Yoga instructors teach students the techniques of yoga, breathing, and centering as tools to self regulate their behaviors, to focus, and to get the most out of their school experience. Student sue centering to begin each school day, and each takes an 8 week yoga class during elective period.

Novartis Multicultural Corporate Teen Mentorship Program
Offers Link’s 8th grade students the opportunity to spend 3-5 days on their East Hanover campus learning about and exploring career opportunities at a global pharmaceutical company and activities include: shadowing / mentoring with a Novartis associate; developing a group presentation with students from other area schools; a community service project; addresses from keynote speakers, and more.

Project U.S.E.
Link students benefit from Project U.S.E.’s  experiential learning and outdoor education programs which inspire personal growth and promote environmental consciousness. Link students participate in programs each year starting with day trips to northwestern NJ for hiking, canoeing, rock climbing, and challenge courses to a three day/2 night camping trip in grade 8.

Schools That Can
STC provides a nation wide network of schools that share best practices at annual conferences, as well as programming to “empower leaders, develop teachers, and engage students around rigorous and relevant real-world learning.”

In addition to the organizations listed above, a number of individuals have partnered at Link in various capacities – elective instructors, mentors, and tutors. Some of the organizations/individuals participating in the 7th and 8th grade elective program include Tamara Fleming Photography, Fire Me Up Studio, Grassroots, Newark Chess Club, Newark Public Library, STEAM Urban, Bricks4Kids, Mighty Writers, and more.
