A great chance for you to win prizes – iPads, gift cards and more! Participate in the Link Community School Essay Contest! The deadline is Wednesday, December 19th and the winners will be announced in January.
2012 marks the 150th anniversary of Abraham Lincoln’s Emancipation Proclamation, a courageous and creative move by a U.S. President which eventually led to the freeing of all slaves in America. While slavery is now abolished in the U.S., there are those in our community, our country and our world who are afflicted by various other forms of social injustice, inequality and unfairness. Link Community School wants to honor the spirit of the Emancipation Proclamation in its special anniversary year. We seek bright and motivated young 6th graders who have experienced or witnessed social injustice in some way, and who wish to see it resolved, to share their thoughts in Link Community School’s ESSAY CONTEST.
Describe an issue of social injustice, inequality or unfair treatment that you see affecting your community. Why is this issue important to you, and how do you think it can be resolved? How can YOU help address such issues in your community, and how can you involve others to affect change in your community?
