Over three hundred guests enjoyed a great night at Link’s 16th annual A Taste of Newark, the school’s major fundraising event. Many restaurants and caterers served their culinary specialties, providing a wide variety of foods for guests to sample. Guests were treated to student performances: African Dance and Spoken Word. Ms. Afi Daitey ’01 spoke to the impact Link had on her education and life, and asked guests to support and sustain the school so that other youth will benefit as she did. Mr. Bill Kurtz, the evening’s honoree, lauded the school for being the inspiration and model for education reform. The proceeds from the evening’s event supplements the school’s operating budget. Thanks to the event sponsors, donors, restaurants and guests for their support of our event and our school. Also, Link appreciates the time and effort of our wonderful benefit committee, headed by trustees Ellen Maher and Martha MacCallum Gregory, for creating a special evening.
